CASSANDRA session on Security and Risk Assessment

ECITL 2012 in Gothenburg

The CASSANDRA project hosted a session on "Security and Risk Assessment in Logistics" at the European Conference on ICT for Transport Logistics (ECITL) conference which took place in Gothenburg (Sweden) from November 7th to 9th, 2012.

The session moderated by Nils Meyer-Larsen (ISL) highlighted concepts like data sharing in supply chains, the project’s risk based approach as well as mid-term results of the work packages. Among other things, Inge Lucassen (TNO) presented in her talk “How to re-construct the supply chain from dashboard data” the business dashboard of Descartes which will be created in CASSANDRA in order to support supply chain actors. As one of these actors, Jan Huisman (Seacon Logistics) described in his presentation "Benefits of cost efficient risk assessment in intercontinental Supply Chains" benefits to be expected from the solutions of CASSANDRA.

The talk “Computational auditing as part of horizontal supervision” of Fouad Gaddur (TNO) focused on the risk based approach and the improved data quality in the supply chain. Furthermore, José Gato (Atos) described the technical background of the implementation of the solution in his presentation “Technical implementation and standardization needs in system based supervision”. The session was followed by interesting and fruitful discussions which clearly indicated the relevance of the CASSANDRA topics.

The ECITL '12 conference in general focused on "Smart Freight to Enable Sustainable Logistics Solutions" and highlighted innovations and applications in this area. The conference aims to close the gap between research and innovation and the logistics industry, moving research results into real world settings and driving the competitiveness of European companies in the transport logistics sector.
